PARTICIPATE

This is a growing hub where we will provide creative tasks and provocations which you can do from the comfort of your own home, and may then send back to us to help shape our future projects. Interact with us and join the STRANGEkit community.
We can’t wait to see the unique way you see the world.

FRAMES 2.0 X ISO 2.0 is coming...

STRANGEkit are inviting you to submit the FRAMES in your life for our FRAMES 2.0. Just like our original FRAMES project, we will collate them and create a new work - made from YOUR submissions.

So without further ado, we’re passing it over to you!

Discover the role this new framing plays in making a static or moving visual image:  You might provide senses of theatrical staging, visual art, extreme scale, stylistic aesthetics, random associations or even abstracted objects.

Instructions

  • Firstly, find or make some kind of frame.

  • Use this frame to literally frame artistic scenes/images you see/construct in the world around you.

  • Film these scenes using any camera you like; a phone, video camera, computer webcam, DSLR etc.

  • Submit your creations using the button below

Tips

  • Your video must include an artificial or natural FRAME!

  • Place the frame so that it will be completely visible within the shot (it’s okay if we see your hand or other frame-holding apparatus)

  • Videos can be taken in landscape or portrait

  • Videos must be between 5 and 30 seconds in length (send us a version you have cut to your desired length)

What happens next?

  • Take these instructions as a prompt or guide (rules can be broken) and run with it! From these, we will create Frames 2.0.

  • We will develop and release FRAMES 2.0

  • Your account@/name will be tagged in our comments so you can tell your friends! Spot the frame!

 Dream Filter

Submit to us your night or day dreams and we will propel them through form and content-converting filters, returning them to you warped, reshaped and reimagined.

Inspired by the word-play and borrowed generative formulas of writer Jeff Noon, the collective will use your words as source material, as script, as blueprint.

Handed virtually across the collective, our artists will re-interpret the dream. Every filter will produce a new outcome, which we will document to display the process and question the possibility of a final product.

Instructions

Keep a journal beside you at night and when you wake up in the morning write as much as you can recall from your dreams. OR keep pen and paper on you during the day and when daydream or run away thought strikes write every detail as it comes to you, trying not to interpret or translate.

We’re interested in submissions of writing that are not over-thought or over-edited. One way we recommend achieving this is using ‘free writing’:

Set yourself a limited time (say only 5 minutes), put a timer on your phone and write continuously for the entire time. Don’t allow yourself to stop at any point, if you run out of ideas keep rewriting the same sentence or word until a new one comes to you.
